Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has granted licenses to China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom to establish international communication service import and export bureaus in key locations such as Nanning in Guangxi, Qingdao in Shandong, and Kunming in Yunnan.
It is reported that this is the first time in 30 years that China has established the international communication service import and export bureau. This development is expected to significantly enhance international network communication capabilities, promote infrastructure interconnection, facilitate cross-border data flow, and boost the development of international digital trade. Furthermore, it will foster a higher level of openness and generate new momentum and advantages for shaping a new development pattern. The establishment of Nanning International Communication Service Import and Export Bureau will strategically leverage Guangxi's geographical proximity to ASEAN countries, both by land and sea. This initiative aims to notably reduce the communication latency for international Internet access from Guangxi and western regions of China to ASEAN countries, thereby optimizing communication quality. Moreover, it will assist Guangxi in strategically planning the development of an outward-facing digital industry and in creating an international data superhighway that caters to the needs of ASEAN countries.
