The 2024 Gree Tour of Guangxi, a prestigious cycling event, is set to unveil a fresh competitive route that promises a novel experience for both participants and spectators, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region's Administration of Sport said on Friday.
The new course for the tour, Oct 15 to 20, will showcase diverse landscapes, the cultural charms along the border and the wellness tourism destination of Bama International Longevity Resort.
The 2024 event will feature separate men's and women's races.
The men's race will start at Fangchenggang and pass through 18 counties in six prefecture-level cities, including Fangchenggang and Nanning in Guangxi, covering a distance of 1,020.9 kilometers. A transfer distance of approximately 371 kilometers brings the total distance to about 1,392 kilometers.
The women's race will take place on Oct 20 in Nanning, spanning a distance of 134.3 kilometers.
Thirteen men's World Tour teams and 10 women's World Tour teams have confirmed their participation so far. The Chinese Cycling Association is also considering sending a national team to compete.
