In the recently concluded men's synchronized 10-meter platform final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the gold medal was secured by the Chinese pair Yang Hao and Lian Junjie. The silver was claimed by the British team of Thomas Daley and Noah Williams, while the bronze went to the Canadian pair.
Lian, born in 2000 in Wuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, began his diving journey at the age of six when his father enrolled him in Wuzhou's youth sports school.
In 2007, Lian was selected, along with five other young talents by a coach from Yantai, Shandong, who came to Wuzhou to scout for talent. By 2008, Lian was training with the Yantai diving team, where he combined sports and education.
He later participated in the Shandong Diving Championships and achieved a top-three finish. In 2010, he joined the Shandong provincial team. In 2016, Lian Junjie joined the Chinese national diving team.
