In recent years, Mashan County of Nanning has embraced many new rock climbing stars. Since 2018, young rock climbers have made great achievements in international and domestic competitions, and won a total of 138 gold medals, 130 silver medals and 114 bronze medals.

It is reported that since 2017, the Chinese Mountaineering Association and the governments of Nanning City and Mashan County have jointly built Guling Town into China's first rock climbing town, and rock climbing has quickly taken root in relevant campuses of Mashan County. So far, the county has built more than 3,000 square meters of artificial rock walls, covering 23 schools in 11 towns, and 20 rock climbing school teams have been established. Mashan County has also introduced relevant admission policies for students with rock climbing expertise, opening up a "green channel" for excellent students to receive higher education. At the same time, the county has also strengthened teacher team construction, and equipped relevant schools with 53 full-time and part-time rock climbing teachers, so as to continuously improve teaching standards through professional training.
