China's two self-developed facilities Haikui-1, the Asia's first cylindrical floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility, and Haiji-2, the Asia's first deepwater jacket, will be put into operation at the same time, according to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China.
This marks China's achievement of world-class capability in the independent construction of large-scale oil and gas equipment.
Haikui-1 is nearly 90 meters high and weighs around 37,000 metric tons, with a maximum oil storage capacity of 60,000 metric tons. It can process approximately 5,600 metric tons of crude oil per day.
With designed lifespan of 30 years, Haikui-1 can operate continuously for 15 years without returning to dock.
Haiji-2 integrates drilling, production, and living functions. It stands 428 meters tall and weighs over 50,000 metric tons, marking the tallest and heaviest jacket platform in Asia.
Both facilities are located in the Liuhua Oilfield, China’s first deepwater oil field, which is situated in the Pearl River Mouth Basin at a depth of 324 meters, and is approximately 240 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province.
