It is also known as a national first-class protected plant. According to staff of the reserve, this orchid species was first discovered here in 2006.

The reserve is the only known habitat for the orchid species in Guangxi. In 2008, heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures raided the South China, causing fatal damage to the population of the species in the reserve.

A recent comprehensive scientific survey revealed the reappearance of over 50 clusters of this orchid species in the reserve, though their numbers have yet to return to pre-2008 levels following the catastrophic event.

The orchid species features vibrant green leaves, a long blooming period, and uniquely shaped flower patterns adorned with golden hues.

Thriving in tropical climates, it is very selective about its growing environment. Its appearance in the Huaping Nature Reserve, located in the mid-subtropical areas, is an exceptionally rare phenomenon.
