The Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations issued a statement on Tuesday that China paid the remaining balance of its 2020 dues to the United Nations on Monday.
By now, China has paid the full amount of its 2020 dues, totaling about 336 million U.S. dollars, which fully reflects China's support for the United Nations, the mission said.
As the second largest contributor to the UN regular budget, China actively fulfills its financial obligations, supporting the UN and its specialized agencies and upholding multilateralism, it added.
Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, expressed great appreciation for China's full payment to the UN regular budget in the daily noon briefing on Monday.
China has decided to donate another 30 million U.S. dollars in cash to the World Health Organization (WHO) in addition to the 20 million U.S. dollars cash donationalready made to support the global fight against COVID-19 and strengthen developing countries' health system, the mission stressed.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said that China's donation aims to support the WHO in playing a better coordinating role in international action against the epidemic, especially helping small and medium-sized countries with weak public health systems build up their epidemic-prevention abilities.
