Lu Xinshe, Party secretary of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, conducted in-depth investigations and provided effective guidance on the poverty alleviation efforts in Hechi's two impoverished Yao autonomous counties of Du'an and Dahua from May 11 to 12.
Du'an and Dahua are both national-level poverty-stricken counties and extremely poor counties in Guangxi. At present, 17,500 people in 65 villages of Du'an and 17,300 people in 24 poor villages of Dahua are impoverished.
In the two-day visit, Lu supervised and inspected key difficult issues, such as the renovation of dilapidated houses, the construction of drinking water safety projects, and relevant situations in response to the COVID-19 epidemic.
He also carried out field visits to poverty alleviation and relocation sites, industrial parks, as well as cultural tourism scenic spots, learning more about the current situations of resettlement, construction of Guangdong-Guangxi poverty alleviation cooperative projects, the poverty alleviation industrial chain, and the development of the tourism industry.
Lu noted that in accordance with the deployment requirements of the central government and the autonomous region government, it is necessary to accelerate the full recovery of production and living, while making efforts to meet the regular prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic measures.
The Party chief stressed that efforts should be made to control dropouts, accelerate the construction and transformation of schools for compulsory education, as well as speed up house renovation and drinking water projects. Industrial reconstruction, employment resettlement, social reconstruction, and environmental integration should be emphasized.
Lu also required the two counties to set up more poverty alleviation workshops, develop public welfare positions, carry out targeted skill training, and open up employment channels.
