As of May 25, the Guangxi delegation to the National People's Congress has put forward a total of 12 motions and 259 suggestions, the highest number in more than three years, according to officials at a press conference on the performance of the Guangxi delegation.
Focusing on the key tasks of the nation, while taking into account the reality of Guangxi, delegates have submitted a batch of high-quality and highly targeted motions and proposals to strive for more national support for Guangxi's economic and social development. Among them, the 12 motions submitted mainly required the formulation, revision, and improvement of relevant laws, while the 259 suggestions submitted involved multiple fields like project construction, industrial development, social undertakings, public services, as well as urban and rural construction.
The Guangxi delegation submitted the Proposal on Supporting the Acceleration of the Construction of the Western New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, which included suggestions on supporting the completion of infrastructure shortcomings, building an international gateway port in the Beibu Gulf, and increasing the level of customs clearance. Delegates also advised that Guangxi's advantages should be utilized to deepen the opening of China's land and sea channels, as well as promote the high-quality development of the western region.
In the past few days, delegates have performed their duties for the public and made suggestions throughout the process of deliberation of reports, bills, and draft laws. A total of 32 delegates spoke at the plenary meeting of the Guangxi delegation and 235 people spoke at the group meeting, making 369 comments and suggestions. The opinions and suggestions mainly involve the implementation of regional development strategies, industrial support, public health and COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, education, poverty alleviation, ecological and environmental protection, opening-up, as well as border construction.
