By the end of August, the construction of 4,406 compulsory education schools in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will complete their renovation and be put it into use, while 25,800 compulsory education teachers will be recruited.
In recent years, Guangxi has filled its education shortcomings, continuously optimizing the structure of teachers and expanding the channels of education support to help improve the education level for impoverished students, as well as the quality of education development in impoverished areas.
Since 2015, a total of 16.55 billion yuan ($2.31 billion) in funds from the central government and autonomous region government has been invested in 54 poverty-stricken districts and counties in Guangxi, building 25,971 schools, including 538 new compulsory education schools, as well as constructing 25,640 projects.
Guangxi will continue to increase its investment in the construction of rural compulsory education schools in impoverished areas. At present, the construction completion rate of 4,406 compulsory education schools in the region has reached 90 percent. The main construction will be completed by the end of June, while the decoration and equipment purchases will be completed and put into use by the end of August.
Guangxi plans to supplement 25,800 compulsory education teachers this year, including 8,450 teachers in such subjects as music, art, and English. The region will arrange 1,950 primary school education graduates to teach in rural schools. In addition, the region will further improve the living subsidies for teachers, especially rural teachers.
