As one of the main hubs on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in western China, Qinzhou in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has been making efforts to develop transportation, improve services, and enhance its industrial strength.

As one of the three major ports of the Beibu Gulf, Qinzhou port has undergone huge development and changes. Its cargo throughput reached 120 million tons in 2019, an increase of nearly a thousand times compared with when the port was opened in 1994.

Qinzhou has promoted the construction of port transportation systems such as wharfs and waterways to improve the infrastructure of the land-sea trade corridor and to achieve "last mile connectivity" for sea-rail intermodal transportation.

Qinzhou Port has opened seven regular sea-rail intermodal transportation lines to Chongqing, Chengdu, Kunming, Guiyang, Lanzhou, and more, and operated 47 container routes to 155 ports in 71 countries and regions.

In order to build an efficient intermodal transportation system and modern shipping service, Qinzhou has explored a new model of sea-rail intermodal container management to reduce customs clearance links and time, lower costs and improve efficiency.

The system innovations have greatly stimulated market vitality and attracted a large number of enterprises. Nine months since the opening of the Qinzhou Port Area in China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone, 1,108 new enterprises have been established and 2,482 enterprises newly settled in, with a total registered capital of over 36 billion yuan ($5.07 billion).

In addition, Qinzhou has taken advantage of major opportunities such as the construction of a land-sea trade corridor and the establishment of the Guangxi FTZ to quickly develop related industries.

At present, a number of shipping logistics companies, large shipping and shipping agency companies, as well as local shipping companies have settled into the Qinzhou Port area of Guangxi FTZ and made contributions to the logistics industry.

The construction of the land-sea trade corridor has also promoted trade development. From January to April this year, Qinzhou Port completed a port cargo throughput of 40.14 million tons, an increase of 9.3 percent year-on-year, and a container throughput of 962,000 TEUs, an increase of 24 percent year-on-year.
