Since the implementation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in February 2019, Guangxi has made every effort to integrate into the Greater Bay Area and has achieved new results in the five aspects of systems and mechanisms, infrastructure, cooperation platforms, ecological protection, as well as public services.
Guangxi has studied relevant issues of the 2020 Pan-Pearl Delta Regional Cooperation Executive Chiefs Joint Meeting and the 13th Pan-Pearl Delta Regional Cooperation & Development Forum, and bolstered the cooperation mechanism of the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration. It has also issued policies to support industrial integration.
Guangxi has promoted the construction of connectivity infrastructure, such as railways, highways, ports, and airports, while the construction of 28 key infrastructure projects connecting the Greater Bay Area has progressed smoothly.
The construction of key cooperation platforms was also accelerated. The Guangxi area of the Guangdong-Guangxi Interprovincial Pilot Cooperation Special Zone and the Guangxi Eastward Integration Pilot Demonstration Area introduced 249 enterprises and 84 enterprises from the Greater Bay Area respectively. As of June 30, Guangxi has signed agreements on a total of 575 projects with Bay Area enterprises, with a total investment of nearly 565 billion yuan ($80.68 billion).
The region has signed an agreement with Guangdong province to establish the ecological compensation fund for the Jiuzhou River Basin, raising a total of 2.3 billion yuan for watershed management projects.
As of June 30, 1.85 billion yuan of poverty alleviation funds have been obtained from Guangdong province and 627 poverty alleviation projects have started construction. A total of 17 demonstration vocational education sites and seven training bases were built by Guangdong and Guangxi. Nearly 100 experts from the Greater Bay Area were introduced to Guangxi to carry out scientific research cooperation.
In addition, Guangdong and Guangxi have implemented online settlement procedures for medical pension services and interprovincial medical expenses, as well as promoted 96 medical institutions in Guangdong to carry out paired assistance with 105 medical institutions in Guangxi.
