Gongcheng Yao autonomous county in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region held a celebration to mark the 30th anniversary of its founding on Sept 25.
Set up in 1990 under the approval of the State Council, Gongcheng Yao autonomous county is the youngest Yao autonomous county in China. It has achieved remarkable outcomes in areas spanning ecological civilization construction, economic and social development, ethnic group unity, overall economic growth, as well as urban and rural landscape improvement.
The current gross domestic product of the county is 34 times of that in 1990, the fixed assets investment is 131 times of that in 1990, while the fiscal revenue is 25 times of that in 1990.
The agricultural industry in Gongcheng has gone through rapid development, establishing a batch of modern distinctive agricultural demonstration parks and zones. At present, the plantation area of fruit in Gongcheng has exceeded over 500,000 mu (33333.33 hectares), being 22 times of that when the county was established.
Efforts have also been made in turning Gongcheng into a livable county with an excellent ecological environment. It became "the county of longevity in China" in 2014 and has won more than 20 national rewards for its achievements in areas like cultural tourism, ecological agriculture, and ethnic group unity.
Deng Xiaoqiang, Party secretary of Gongcheng, said that the county will continue to conduct innovative development of its ecological tourism, agriculture, and health preservation industries, aiming to achieve further progress.
