Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will make full use of platforms like the China-ASEAN Health Cooperation Forum to accelerate the construction of the China-ASEAN public health communication and cooperation center in Guangxi, as well as to deepen cooperation with ASEAN countries, announced Liao Pinhu, director of the Guangxi Health Commission.

Guangxi has teamed with ASEAN countries since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to share experiences and offer support in medical techniques. It also dispatched the first medical team to help ASEAN countries fight against the pandemic.

Liao said that Guangxi will optimize its cooperative mechanisms with ASEAN countries on the prevention and control of major pandemic outbreaks and public health emergencies, boosting mutual sharing of information and techniques. 

Guangxi will also establish an international medical rescue team on the basis of the national maritime emergency medical rescue team. 

The China-ASEAN Hospital Cooperation Alliance has now been set up in Nanning and Guangxi. It has taken an active role in carrying out training for medical workers from ASEAN countries, as well as countries and regions alongside the Belt and Road.

In addition, the third China-ASEAN Health Cooperation Forum and its sub forums will be held during the upcoming 27th China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning from Nov 27 to 30.
