The economic cooperation in the Pan-Beibu Gulf is very vital to the economic and trade development between China and ASEAN, said Soe Thet Naung, consul general of Myanmar in Nanning, during an interview conducted before the 11th Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum, which will be held in Nanning on Oct 15.
"First, I'd like to extent my congratulations that the Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum has been held 10 times. We believe that China and ASEAN will carry out further discussions and cooperation in various areas and that more cooperation outcomes will be achieved in fields spanning the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, economy, and trade," said Soe.
Myanmar has been taking an active part in the Pan-Beibu Gulf economic cooperation.
Soe noted that Myanmar and Guangxi have benefited in many areas under the framework of the Pan-Beibu Gulf economic cooperation. Guangxi's Qinzhou Port intends to forge sister port relationships with Burmese ports, allowing Burmese agricultural products to be transported to China and Chinese products to be exported to Myanmar.
Currently, Yunnan province and Myanmar are working on the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor project, which will be an economic corridor connecting China and the Indo-China Peninsula through land routes.
Soe expressed his hope that the Pan-Beibu Gulf economic cooperation will grow and that the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and the New International Land-Sea trade Corridor can be connected in the future.
