The 2020 China-ASEAN Architectural Art Forum commenced in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Oct 24, gathering experts and scholars from more than 40 universities and colleges from countries and regions like China, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia.
The forum was hosted by Guangxi Arts University, as well as had guidance from the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as well as the Guangxi Education Department.
It aimed to push forward the development and innovation in architectural art design in China and ASEAN.
Deep discussions on pressing issues like the human living environment design in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era, the protection of cultural heritages, the construction of tourism environments, as well as talent cultivation were carried out in both online and offline venues during the forum.
Guangxi will make full use of its advantages of being the frontier for China-ASEAN communication and cooperation to promote communication and cooperation in architectural art and design, said Yang Lyufeng, deputy director of the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Yang noted that Guangxi's architectural industry has seen prosperous growth, with the industry's gross output reaching 540.73 billion yuan ($80.57 billion) in 2019 and its growth rate on a yearly basis ranking third in China.
Yang expressed his hope that attendees of the forum can contribute to the improvement of the human living environment in China and ASEAN.
