A total of 20 sets of photographs showcasing the charm of Thailand are on display in the Thailand Preferred Destination photo exhibition at Nanning Museum, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from Dec 1 to 31.

The exhibition is jointly held by the consulate general of Thailand in Nanning, the Kunming office for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Nanning Museum, aiming to boost cultural exchanges between China and Thailand, as well as to help more Chinese people learn about Thailand.

Benjamas Tanvetyanont, consul general of Thailand in Nanning, noted that the tourism industry is one of the major industries in Thailand. The number of overseas tourists visiting Thailand in 2019 exceeded 39 million, generating an overall tourism revenue of 1.96 trillion baht ($64.91 billion). The number of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand in 2019 was around 10.98 million.

Tanvetyanont said that she hopes that Chinese tourists can return to Thailand when the COVID-19 pandemic ends. "Currently there are lots of restrictions on outbound tourism, yet Thailand is always getting prepared to welcome tourists from all over the world in the future," she added.
