The opening ceremony of the 2020 China-ASEAN Expo Tourism Exhibition was held on Dec 8 in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The exhibition will last for three days.
The expo, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, aims to push forward the tourism exhibition, communication, and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, incorporating elements like e-commerce, technology, and 5G networks.
Covering a total area of 25,000 square meters, the expo has set up several themed exhibition pavilions in areas spanning overseas tourism, domestic travel, tourism consumption, and international tourist commodities, gathering more than 20 official tourism agencies and over 120 exhibitors from both home and abroad.
Li Bin, vice chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, noted that Guangxi is willing to team with ASEAN countries to seek more development opportunities in tourism cooperation, as well as to establish a platform for tourism exhibition, exchanges, and trade on the basis of modern technologies like the internet, big data, 5G communications, and artificial intelligence.
The China-ASEAN Expo Tourism Exhibition has been held in Guilin since 2015, attracting thousands of companies and professional buyers in the past five years. It has also held more than 15,000 trade fairs, providing a stage for a large number of projects related to tourism cooperation and trade exchanges.
Zhao Leqin, secretary of the CPC Guilin municipal committee, said that Guilin has made full use of the opportunity of undertaking the expo to strengthen communication with ASEAN countries, as well as to conduct cooperation in areas spanning tourism promotion, cultural exchanges, and scientific innovation. Great contributions have been made to the establishment of Guilin as an international resort city and to showcase its charm.
In addition, this year's expo has also opened an online exhibition with the help of advanced technologies like 5G, big data, and virtual reality.
