Guangxi launched its first batch of major projects for 2021 on Jan 4, listing a total of 1,724 projects with an overall investment of 3.5 trillion yuan ($541.17 billion) - of which 3.14 trillion yuan will be made in 2021.

The region is set to push forward the construction of major projects in strategic emerging industries including new energy, new materials, advanced equipment manufacturing, 5G communication equipment, big health and biomedicine.

A total of 206 out of the 1,724 projects are new projects that will start construction in 2021 with an overall investment of 365.98 billion yuan, while 158 of the projects will finish construction and start operation this year, with a total investment of 194.53 billion yuan.

Guangxi will also grasp new development opportunities, as the year 2021 marks the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) to achieve efficient growth in investment and accelerate the revival of the economy.
