Nanning is set to establish a supply chain linking it with both the ASEAN and the Pearl River Delta, as well as creating a regional base for high-tech industries and advanced manufacturing, officials from Nanning announced on Jan 15.

Officials said that during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), Nanning will help promote the upgrading and growth of the China-ASEAN Expo, push forward the construction of Guangxi as an open financial gateway for ASEAN, and strive to turn the city into an ideal base for Chinese companies entering the ASEAN markets and for ASEAN companies entering the Chinese market.

Wang Dongming, director of the Nanning industry and information technology bureau, said that great efforts will be made to develop clusters of major industries such as electronic information, advanced equipment manufacturing and biomedicine.

Nanning will build a base for the research, development, manufacturing and supply of the core components of the electronic information industry and establish industrial chains for areas spanning new energy vehicles, construction machinery and equipment, energy conservation, environmental protection equipment and rail transit equipment.

The city will also take an active role in the joint construction of the digital Silk Road, building an offshore data center for the ASEAN on the basis of the core China-ASEAN Information Harbor base in Nanning, while boosting the development of industries such as big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and geographic information systems.
