Shenzhen in Guangdong province purchased a total of 3.23 billion yuan ($500 million) of poverty alleviation products from Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in 2020, officials from the Guangdong second poverty alleviation work group said on Feb 2.
The work group has devoted 220 million yuan to poverty alleviation in Guangxi, constructing supply infrastructure in areas such as refrigeration, cleaning, sorting, packaging, cold chain as well as cold storage.
It has teamed up with Guangxi agricultural departments to recognize nine agricultural bases in Guangxi for providing agricultural products to Shenzhen. A total of 16 companies and 36 distinctive products have gained certification meaning they meet the food standards in Shenzhen.
These products have been sold at supermarkets in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area such as the Hema Fresh.
The work group will cooperate with Guangxi to build more than 30 standardized agricultural production bases specially for Guangdong over the next three years, in order to integrate Guangxi's high-quality natural resources with the Greater Bay Area's advantages in capital, technology, management and markets.
It is expected that the agricultural industrial chains in Guangxi's poverty-stricken areas will be further extended.
Shenzhen Maoxiong Co Ltd has launched a cooperation project with Tiandong county in Guangxi's Baise to build an agricultural processing park of 300 mu (0.07 hectares) and a plantation base of 1,500 mu at a cost of 200 million yuan.
Shenzhen's Jinjin Group has signed to invest around 400 million yuan in building an intelligent agricultural trading center with an area of 250 mu in Tianyang district, Baise in five years.
