People from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan are taking an active role in Guangxi's rural revitalization, enticed by the good prospects for investment and business development.
Sun Dawei, chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a deputy to the National People's Congress, made the comments during an interview reported by chinanews.com on March 2.
Guangxi, being the "back garden" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, supplies high-quality agricultural and sideline products for the Greater Bay Area and has become a major tourism destination for people in the area.
"The participation of people from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in Guangxi's rural revitalization can boost the opening-up of rural areas, speed up industrial transformation and upgrading, and increase farmers' incomes," said Sun.
Sun added that the CPPCC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee will enhance communication with parties such as members of the CPPCC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee from Hong Kong and Macao to build bridges to help people from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan better participate in rural revitalization.
The CPPCC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee will also organize members from Hong Kong and Macao to conduct on-site visits to learn more about Guangxi's rural areas.
Guangxi has devoted significant efforts to building an excellent business environment, which has achieved good results in attracting State-owned companies, private companies, and Greater Bay Area companies.
The region welcomed more than 1,050 projects by the aforementioned companies in 2020, with an overall investment of over 1.1 trillion yuan ($170.12 billion). Of these projects, more than 600 have started construction.
