Guangxi received a total of 15.78 million tourists during Sanyuesan Festival, which this year took place from April 14 to 17; up 3.1 percent compared with the pre-pandemic figure from 2019, according to statistics released by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The overall tourist spend during the festival expanded by 4.6 percent to 12.54 billion yuan ($1.92 billion) compared with the 2019 figure.
More than 300 cultural events - including performances of ethnic songs and dances and promotions of local delicacies - were held throughout the region during the festival.
Guangxi provided various tourism routes for visitors to meet with their diverse demands. Four high-quality themed tourism routes; namely the 100-year history of the Communist Party of China (CPC), rural tourism, ethnic culture and intangible cultural heritage were launched during this year's Sanyuesan Festival.
A tourism route exploring the intangible cultural heritage of the border areas between China and Vietnam was also made available, and this route has now been listed among China's first batch of intangible cultural heritage-themed tourism routes.
Coupons for cultural tourism in Guangxi began to be distributed via the region's online smart tourism platform on April 14. Users are now able to log on the platform to get the coupons between now and July 31. The coupons can be used in areas such as hotels, transportation and catering.
