Qianjiang city in Central China's Hubei province has witnessed a boom in crawfish product exports via cross-border e-commerce, online news platform Jimu reported on Monday.
China's crayfish exports to South Korea increased 265 percent year-on-year in June, Jimu News reported, citing data from e-commerce giant Alibaba's Tmall and Taobao.
The export of cooked crayfish added a 10 percent profit to the company, compared with the export of semi-prepared products in the past, said Liu Jing, general manager of an aquatic food company in Qianjiang.
Zhang Denghua, chairman of a catering enterprise in Qianjiang, said 70 percent of their crayfish were sold via e-commerce platforms at home and abroad, including Russia and Singapore.
In the first half of this year, the number of characteristic domestic brands selling abroad increased by more than 30 percent year-on-year, Jimu News reported, citing Hang Xin, a general manager responsible for cross-broader e-commerce at Alibaba.
China also has seen a booming export of characteristic foods, such as river snail rice noodle, self-heating hot pot and spicy gluten, thanks to the convenience of cross-border logistics and payment, Jimu News reported.
