The Guangxi-Israel Technology Forum commenced in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on July 30, gathering representatives from five major Guangxi foreign-related industrial parks, 57 Guangxi companies and 25 Israeli companies.
Guangxi has been devoting great efforts in pushing forward high-level opening up and accelerating the construction of major platforms such as the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the open financial gateway for ASEAN members.
The region is now striving to become one of China's places for development and investment.
Israel is a world leader in science and technology and has pioneered globally in sectors spanning electronics, communication, medical equipment, biotechnology engineering and agriculture.
Officials from the Science and Technology Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region noted that Guangxi will deepen cooperation with Israel in agriculture.
It is also said that the department will release more opening up policies for scientific innovation such as expanding talent exchanges, supporting Israeli companies to set up cooperation mechanisms with Guangxi companies as well as setting up joint scientific cooperation service platforms in Guangxi or Israel, including research and development centers and laboratories. Platforms meeting certain requirements can get a subsidy of up to 5 million yuan ($773,104).
A total of six projects were signed during the forum, including the one for setting up an Israeli scientific innovation industrial city in Guangxi under the joint efforts from the China (Guangxi) Pilot FTZ and the consulate general of Israel in Guangzhou.
Peleg Lewi, consul general of Israel in Guangzhou, said that great successes have been achieved by Chinese and Israeli companies, especially in South China. The two countries have focused on strengthening their communication exchanges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
