China’s graph computer "DepGraph," developed by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, topped the 24th Graph 500 list and broke the world record for computing performance, the university announced on June 4.
The 24th Graph list was unveiled at the International Conference on Supercomputing held in Hamburg, Germany.
This is the first time in the world that the performance of a single computer exceeds that of supercomputer graph computing.
Graph 500 is a rating of supercomputer systems, focusing on data-intensive loads. It was co-organized by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
The breakthrough was achieved by the graph computing team led by Associate Professor Zhang Yu and Dr. Zhao Jin of Huazhong University of Science and Technology after years of in-depth research.
The DepGraph developed by the team has topped the 18th Green Graph 500 and 23rd Graph 500 rankings, two of the most authoritative graph computing lists in the world. The project was unveiled at the International Supercomputing Conference last November in St. Louis, a city in the United States.
"At present, we are negotiating with relevant units to put graph computing in use. After the industrialization of the software, we will promote the industrialization of relevant hardware and promote hardware products to various industries," Zhang said.
