Have you ever wondered, in this era of economic globalization, how smart can a terminal be, so that it can easily cope with those huge and heavy containers? Today, you will find the answer at this Qinzhou Automated Container Terminal in Guangxi.
On April 3, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a "Tour of Foreign Diplomats to Chinese Localities ". Diplomats from 17 countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and South America visited Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The delegation made a special visit to the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and explored international cooperation with Guangxi.
Driven by the "Belt & Road" initiative, Qinzhou Port with its outstanding geographical advantages, high-level automated operations and excellent supporting services, has rapidly developed into a new gateway port full of vitality for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
The Qinzhou Automated Container Terminal is the first to adopt a U-shaped design around the world. Compared with the traditional ones, this terminal has 30% higher operational efficiency and can reduces 90% operating personnel, with overall carbon emissions expected to be reduced by about 20%.
In addition, Qinzhou Port is also China's first fully automated smart port for sea-rail intermodal transportation, which means that the railway station and the terminal yard are closely connected. Containers can be almost immediately loaded on trains after disembarking and immediately get on board after being unloaded from trains.
Last year, the container throughput of Qinzhou Port entered the "era of 5 million TEUs", and 10 new foreign trade routes were introduced, eight of which were ASEAN routes.
Malaysia Minister to China, Mr. Sanmugan Subramaniam:" This the 11th year of Malaysia-China port (Two Countries, Twin Parks) development. And then the automated port actually facilitates a lot of movement of goods between Southeast Asia,as well as China. You know this whole element of movement of goods, you need to have the automated system so that the move can go faster. I know China has very advanced technologies in automated (domain), so this is very important for the region to develop the economy."
