The 2023 ASEAN Intellectual Property Forum opened in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on April 15, gathering around 130 experts and scholars from China and ASEAN counties such as Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Laos.
Pressing issues related to the protection and global cooperation of IP were discussed.
Xu Wenwei, director of the Intellectual Property Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said Guangxi will take its cue from China-ASEAN cooperation to promote the high-quality implementation of economic and trade roles stemming from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). It will also accelerate construction of China-ASEAN/RCEP International Intellectual Property Headquarters Base, he noted.
Guangxi is the only region in China that is connected with other ASEAN members both by land and by sea. It also serves as the frontier and window for China's opening-up and cooperation with ASEAN countries.
Xu said Guangxi will play an active role in further shoring up the China-ASEAN community in light of their shared future, while also cooperating with RCEP member countries in terms of IP protection and other issues.
