The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar has rescued several nationals lured by criminal organizations and smuggled into Myawaddy in southeastern Myanmar to engage in telecom fraud on the pretext of “high-salary recruitment”, said the embassy in a notice released on Sunday.
The embassy has issued a notice to remind Chinese citizens to be wary of "high-salary" overseas recruitment ads, warning them to avoid being lured into criminal schemes that could lead to loss of property or life.
“If illegally detained in Myanmar, victims or their families should call the police in China and Myanmar as soon as possible,” the embassy said.
The embassy also published emergency numbers:
Myanmar emergency number: 0095-199
Consular protection of the embassy and consulates in Myanmar: 0095-943209657
Consular protection of the Chinese Consulate-General in Mandalay: 0095-9259172726
24-hour hotline of the Global Emergency Call Center for Consular Protection and Services of the Chinese Foreign Ministry: +86-10-12308 +86-10-65612308
Recently, there have been many cases of Chinese nationals and even school students being tempted by false online information such as high salaries to enter Myanmar.
