China's first nationwide platform that realizes multifaceted heterogeneous arithmetic scheduling – national integrated algorithm scheduling platform (version 1.0) was released on Monday, a further step toward implementing the country’s grand project of channeling more computing resources from eastern regions to its less developed yet resource-rich western regions.
The platform was released during a forum organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), representatives from enterprises including Huawei and China Telecom’s CTYun also attended the forum.
Wang Guirong, a senior official from China Telecom, said that the platform is designed to achieve manageable, controllable and schedulable computing power. In the future, China Telecom and CAICT will work together to carry out deeper cooperation in arithmetic scheduling platform and standard development to jointly promote the innovation of information technology.
Li Jie, a senior official from the CAICT, noted that in order to accelerate the development of heterogeneous arithmetic scheduling technology innovation and business promotion, CAICT and China Telecom launched this platform, which integrates the network situation, integrated arithmetic and arithmetic scheduling, laying the foundation for promoting the development of arithmetic scheduling in China.
According to the CAICT, the platform aggregates multiple computing resources such as general computing power, intelligent computing power, high performance computing power and edge computing power, and designs a heterogeneous resource pool scheduling engine for the different needs of customers, realizing dynamic perception of computing power and intelligent task distribution and scheduling of heterogeneous resource pools from different vendors.
During the scheduling process for artificial intelligence training, tasks can be trained and reasoned on intelligent computing resource pools and deployed in common computing resource pools, thus realizing cross-resource pool and cross-vendor heterogeneous computing resource scheduling, which has been connected to CTYun, Huawei Cloud and Alibaba Cloud.
In February 2022, China approved the building of eight national computing hubs and approved plans for 10 national-data center clusters, indicating the country has completed the overall layout design of the national integrated big data center system and the official start of the country's strategic project of channeling more computing resources from eastern regions to western parts of the country.
The efficient complementary and collaborative linkage of the project is inseparable from computing power scheduling. The platform is not only conducive to promoting the expansion of the eastern digital economy industry chain to the western regions, but also promoting the accurate allocation and on-demand access to arithmetic resources, effectively reducing arithmetic energy consumption, and helping the coordinated development of regions and the achievement of the dual carbon goals of the information and communication industry.
