An event was held recently in the Lao capital Vientiane to mark the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival with participants immersed in Chinese culture, customs and history.

The festival, also called Duanwu Festival, is traditionally celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.

Local participants learned to make Zongzi, the glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves, and watched a documentary about the history of the festival at the China Cultural Center in Laos.
