The 11th Forum on China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation will be held in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, from July 12 to 15, officials announced during a July 3 press conference.
Jian Xingchao, deputy director of the Science and Technology Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that since its first session in 2013, the forum has been facilitating exchanges between government departments, enterprises and institutions in China and ASEAN countries. It has formed a stable mechanism for cooperation and consultation in the science and technology sectors.
It has also boosted practical cooperation in sci-tech innovation between China and ASEAN countries, and saw the signing of 79 key China-ASEAN innovation cooperation project contracts.
At present, China has established intergovernmental working mechanisms for bilateral technology transfers with nine ASEAN countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia and Laos. It has also set up joint working groups for bilateral technology transfers with seven countries.
Under the theme of "Sharing Science and Technology for a Better Home," this year's event will host a series of activities. This includes the opening ceremony, the main forum and the Fifth ASEAN Plus Three (10+3) Young Scientists Forum.
Officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology and heads of science and technology management departments in ASEAN countries such, as Cambodia, Malaysia and Myanmar, have confirmed their participation. Other officials, such as the secretary-general of ASEAN and ministerial-level officials from the Philippines and Indonesia, have confirmed their online participation.
