At 10:00 on July 11, two passenger vehicles belonging to the Vietnam-China Trade and Transport Joint Stock Company , an international road passenger transport enterprise in Vietnam, set off from Hanoi, Vietnam. After a traffic resumption ceremony at Vietnam's Friendship Port, they arrived at China's Friendship Pass Port in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at 15:15. This event marked the official resumption of the Hanoi, Vietnam–Nanning, China international direct passenger traffic line since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The traffic line is designed for an irregular passenger transport (charter) service, covering a distance of approximately 381 kilometers. The total duration of the journey, including customs clearance time, is around 7 hours. The driving route follows the QL1 National Highway in Vietnam and the G7211 Nanning–Youyiguan Expressway in China. The route passes through several cities including Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Friendship Port (Vietnam), Friendship Pass Port (China), Pingxiang, and Nanning.

With the reopening of this traffic line, international passenger vehicles and passengers can enter China directly through the Friendship Pass Port after completing necessary customs clearance procedures. There is no longer a need for them to connect at the port in order to access direct transportation services.

Due to the growing friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Vietnam, there has been an increase in demand for international transport of travelers and goods between the two countries. The number of international road transport vehicle ports between China and Vietnam has expanded to five pairs. In Guangxi, the number of jointly recognized international road passenger and cargo transport routes by China and Vietnam has grown from 20 in 2011 to 30, including 17 for passenger transport and 13 for freight transport. A total of 17 routes such as the Nanning–Hanoi route have been opened, offering 11 passenger transport routes and six freight transport routes. These developments have broadened Guangxi"s international transport channels to ASEAN.

Looking ahead, the Guangxi transportation authority will systematically resume the operation of routes such as the Nanning–Hanoi, Nanning–Hạ Long, and Nanning–Hai Phong routes. This step aims to facilitate international direct transport routes' smooth and organized operation.
