The joint training base for postdoctoral research fellows of the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture and Ecology, of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was established at the Mulun National Nature Reserve in Hechi's Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county.

This marks the first time that the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture and Ecology has set up a postdoctoral research station in a nature reserve in Guangxi.

In recent years, the Mulun National Nature Reserve has been working closely with the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture and Ecology of the CAS. They have established a 25-hectare forest dynamics monitoring site and satellite sites within the reserve.

Through numerous scientific research monitoring activities conducted in the reserve, nearly 100 papers have been published in domestic and international academic journals, showcasing significant scientific achievements.

This joint training base for postdoctoral research fellows will be built to monitor and study the long-term dynamic changes of the karst forest ecosystem, the origin and maintenance mechanisms of species diversity, and the application of acquired forest dynamic data in the protection and sustainable development of the karst area.

Collaborative efforts will include project and research cooperation, as well as personnel skill training, aiming to enhance the biodiversity conservation capacity, scientific research monitoring capability, and academic level of the nature reserve. This will also accelerate the development of a high-quality, professional research team.
