On August 11, the selection results of the 11th Mao Dun Literature Prize were announced. The writer Dong Xi won the prize for his full-length novel Echo. This is the first time that a Guangxi writer has won China's top literature award.

Dong Xi is the pen name of Tian Dailin. He won the first Lu Xun Literature Prize for his novella Life Without Words, and many of his works have won national literature awards. Dong Xi has become the first writer in Guangxi to win both prizes, and one of the few in China.

Echo is the fourth full-length novel of Dong Xi, as well as his first innovative masterpiece of "reasoning + psychology." The novel follows the suspense story of a criminal investigation case overlapping with a marriage in odd and even chapters respectively, integrating criminal investigation reasoning and psychological deliberation. It not only presents the complexity of reality, but also describes the vastness of human souls. The work has been translated into Russian, Vietnamese, etc. The adapted online drama with the same name has been on the trending list of platforms this year.

His notable works include novels Echo, A Resounding Slap in the Face, Record of Regret and Altered Fate, short fiction and novellas Life Without Words, Our Father, Settling It in Private, and You Don"t Know How Beautiful She Is. His works have been translated and published in English, French, Swedish, Russian, Korean, Vietnamese, Czech, German, Japanese, Italian, Greek, Thai, Cambodian and other languages.
