Guangxi's first independently funded and constructed high-speed railway line - the Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway - entered the full track-laying stage on Aug 18 and the entire track-laying is expected to be completed by mid-April 2024.
With a total length of 193.31 kilometers, the section starts from Nanning East Railway Station in Nanning and ends at Yulin North Railway Station, serving as an important component of the Nanning-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway.
As of now, the investment in the section has reached 3.97 billion yuan ($543.38 million), accounting for 66.2 percent of the annual investment plan. The main work for the roadbed, bridges and tunnels has been completed and the non-ballast track bed has achieved 42 percent of total progress.
On completion, the travel time from Nanning to Yulin will be reduced from the current fastest trip of 1 hour and 44 minutes to about 50 minutes. The line is predicted to play an essential role in optimizing the regional transportation structure, building a comprehensive transportation system.
