Guangxi Creative Acrobatic Show 'The Bountiful Harvest of Baiyue' Successfully Premiered in Malaysia

On the evening of October 6, 2023, the Guangxi creative acrobatic drama The Bountiful Harvest of Baiyue successfully premiered at the Encore Melaka in Malacca, Malaysia, marking the start of its 24-day residency in the city. Dignitaries from the political, business, and cultural sectors of China and Malaysia, along with over 1,300 local audiences, attended the performance.

The Bountiful Harvest of Baiyue, created by the Guangxi Cultural Industry Group"s Guangxi Acrobatic Troupe and directed by nationally acclaimed director Li Fan, revolves around rice culture. It follows the four seasons, incorporating acrobatics, singing, dancing, musical instruments, and intangible cultural heritage to profoundly interpret China's poverty alleviation wisdom rooted in the ancient rice culture. The production artistically portrays people's yearning and pursuit for a better life.

The performance combined strength-based formations, roushu , somersaults, hand skills, and aerial techniques with the vibrant ethnic culture of Guangxi. It cleverly integrated these skills with the use of a rotating audience seating area in the theater, four different stage settings, and state-of-the-art audio, lighting, and visual effects, creating a refreshing and immersive viewing experience and presenting a picturesque landscape that showcased Guangxi"s beauty and uniqueness. The climax of the show was reached during the thrilling high-altitude table manipulation performances.

With a performance of nearly 90 minutes, the entire cast invited guests and audiences to join them on stage for enthusiastic interactions, accompanied by the interlude "Thank You" of the classic film Liu Sanjie and the Malaysian folk song "Rasa Sayang". Many local audiences from Malacca expressed their admiration for the splendid ethnic culture and superb acrobatic performances of Guangxi. They have gained a deeper understanding of China's outstanding traditional culture and eagerly anticipated the introduction of more cultural masterpieces from Guangxi to Malaysia in the future.
