On May 17 local time, the 1st FOBI World Championship 2024 Piala Presiden kicked off in Jakarta, Indonesia, with 15 teams from 11 countries and regions competing for the championship titles in Nanshi Dance, Beishi Dance, and Dragon Dance. The "Dragon and Lion Dance," which originated in China, enjoys a widespread influence and attraction across Indonesia, appearing in numerous festivals and celebrations among different ethnic groups throughout the country and incorporating local cultural elements to give rise to a distinctive Indonesian version of the dragon and lion dance. The 15 participating teams consisted of over 350 competitors from 11 countries and regions, including Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance Sports Association dispatched two teams to participate in this competition: the Beishi Team of Hubei University and the Nanshi Team of Shishan Martial Arts Dragon and Lion Dance Association in Nanhai District, Foshan City.
