As summer heats up, libraries and bookstores have become popular spots for young people seeking knowledge and a cool refuge. Many students are choosing to spend their vacations immersed in books.
At the Xinhua Bookstore in Yizhou, children read novels and comics, while others work on homework. Lin, a local resident, brought her child to the store, preferring it to endless hours of looking at screens at home. Other parents agree, appreciating the chance to enrich their children's summer and broaden their horizons through reading.
Ou, the bookstore manager, noted a significant increase in the number of visitors, with hundreds stopping by daily, even waiting outside before opening.
Similarly, the Hechi National Library offers a perfect summer retreat with its cool environment and extensive book collection. Every seat is filled with students studying or exploring new reads.
Volunteers help organize the books, gaining valuable skills and an appreciation for what libraries have to offer. The library's daily number of visitors has surged to 500-600, with a rise in book borrowing and memberships.
To accommodate this, the library has enhanced its facilities and hosts engaging activities to inspire visitors' love for reading.
