Recently, the completion of the upstream block gallery of the middle pier at the lower lock head of Qishi Hub on Pinglu Canal has set the stage for the full completion of the water conveyance gallery of the middle pier at the lower lock head.

It is reported that the filling-emptying system of lock of Qishi Hub was recognized as the most intricate in China, involving complex construction processes such as varying slopes and valve well sections. The internal construction was complicated, with diverse steel reinforcement structures and significant challenges in concrete quality control and gallery crack prevention. The construction team of Pinglu Canal employed 60-meter placing machines, the belt conveyor placing system and buckets to pour concrete, so as to enhance the efficiency and precision of concrete placement, ensuring the concrete’s durability and resistance to abrasion. They also rigorously monitored and controlled critical parameters including the concrete’s temperature at the outlet during pouring, thereby ensuring the high quality of the construction.
