On August 5, the designated supervision area for imported fruits at Guanlei Port, "China's No. 1 Port" on the Lancang (Mekong) River, was put into use, marking that the Mekong River has become a new maritime route for China to import fruits from Southeast Asian countries. Guanlei Port, located on the bank of the Lancang River in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is the only open water port in the province. It is also the first port for ships from the hinterland of the Indochina Peninsula and Southeast Asia to enter China via the Mekong River.
