On August 5, the designated supervision area for imported fruits at Guanlei Port, "China's No. 1 Port" on the Lancang (Mekong) River, was put into use, marking that the Mekong River has become a new maritime route for China to import fruits from Southeast Asian countries. Guanlei Port, located on the bank of the Lancang River in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is the only open water port in the province. It is also the first port for ships from the hinterland of the Indochina Peninsula and Southeast Asia to enter China via the Mekong River. It is predicted that by 2025, the volume of imported fruits at Guanlei Port will reach 150,000 tons, and by 2030, it will reach 300,000 tons. (Bo)
