The Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has recently issued an action plan for advancing tourism projects in Guangxi. The plan outlines that from 2024 to 2026, Guangxi will enhance the appeal of its cultural tourism brands, create new cultural tourism consumption scenarios, and support the development of Guangxi into a strong cultural tourism region.

The plan proposes creating themed tourism routes with Guangxi's unique characteristics, including festival, health and convalescence, and sightseeing routes. It also aims to develop inter-provincial and cross-border tourism routes, collaborating with the Greater Bay Area, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other neighboring provinces to offer city destination tours including shopping tours, and business trips. Additionally, the plan emphasizes strengthening cooperation with ASEAN countries and nations involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on developing special tourism routes for tourists from Southeast Asia, Japan, and South Korea. Furthermore, it includes the construction of the Guangxi National Tourist Scenic Route and the establishment of a national scenic route system across Guangxi.
