Recently, the 2nd China-ASEAN High-quality Indica Rice Taste and Quality Assessment was held at the Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The event aims to accelerate the cultivation of superior rice varieties, enhance quality, and foster brand development in Guangxi and other indica rice-producing regions of China, while promoting innovation and cooperation in high-quality rice varieties between China and ASEAN countries.

It is reported that this event featured a wide scope, high standards, and strong expertise, with renowned academicians and experts serving as judges. Adhering to the principles of fairness, justice, and transparency, the event adopted the internationally recognized “Thai Jasmine” rice variety as a benchmark for blind tasting of 47 high-quality indica rice varieties from China and ASEAN countries. The process was supervised and notarized by the Nanfang Notary Office of Nanning in Guangxi. The criteria of indica rice include aroma, appearance, and palatability. Following a rigorous selection and evaluation process, 15 gold awards were ultimately granted. The results will be announced and honored at the 2024 Guangxi International Agricultural Expo.
