On December 11, 2024, the inaugural China (Pingxiang) – ASEAN Self-driving Tourism Launch Ceremony took place at the Friendship Pass in Pingxiang, Guangxi. Over 230 self-driving tourists from across China exited the country through the Friendship Pass to Vietnam's Hanoi and Ninh Binh, embarking on a cross-border self-driving journey. Known as "China's southern gateway", Pingxiang serves as the most convenient international land passage from China to ASEAN countries. Focusing on cross-border self-driving tourism, Pingxiang has developed several high-quality routes like a two-day tour from Pingxiang to Vietnam's Lang Son, thus promoting the ongoing warmth of China-Vietnam cross-border tourism.
