On December 14th, the No. 12 mooring pier at the Xinfu Anchorage upstream of the Madao Junction Ship Lock on the Pinglu Canal was successfully capped. With this, all 13 mooring piers at the Xinfu Anchorage have been completed after more than four months of construction, marking the full completion of the first anchorage along the entire Pinglu Canal.

The anchorage is located in Xinfu Town, Hengzhou, Nanning. It uses a alongside berthing system with mooring piers, providing berths for both upstream and downstream vessels. The anchorage area has a total length of 320 meters and a width of 48 meters, with mooring piers spaced 25 meters apart, allowing double-row berthing of six 5,000-ton vessels.

According to sources, the Xinfu Anchorage upstream of the Madao Junction Ship Lock, as the first vessel berthing facility in the initial section of the Pinglu Canal, will enhance the waterway transportation network upon completion. It will effectively meet the needs for fleet reorganization, registration, queuing, and efficient lock passage, significantly improving the waterway service standards and navigational capacity of the Pinglu Canal. This lays a solid foundation for ensuring efficient operations and scientific management services of the Pinglu Canal in its subsequent phases.
