On December 31, 2024, the Rock Climbing Town in Mashan County was bustling with activity as the two-day 2024 China Natural Rock Climbing Competition (Mashan Session) came to an end in Guangxi. Seventy-eight climbing experts from across China gathered to compete in strength and skill, showcasing the charm of rock climbing as an outdoor sport while celebrating the New Year. Huang Xin from Jiangxi and Yang Zhihui from Hunan won the professional men's and open men's championships respectively, while Huang Weijun from Hunan and Zhao Wanting from Guangxi claimed the professional women's and open women's championships.

In recent years, Mashan County has developed rock climbing by leveraging its unique natural rock wall advantages, creating China's first sports-themed town featuring rock climbing.
