The Liuna Fruit Production Base in Pingtian village, Bama Yao autonomous county of Hechi has welcomed the harvest season of mandarin oranges.

Liuna Fruit Production Base is a modern characteristic agriculture core county-level demonstration zone in Hechi with a main plantation area of 1,000 mu (67 hectares), primarily cultivating mandarin oranges and honey tangerines, which are popular in cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

Situated in the Lingqi River Valley, the base benefits from fertile soil, rich source of selenium, and significant day-night temperature differences, resulting in mandarin oranges and honey tangerines sweet taste and sugar content reaching to around 16 percent.

The base provides stable employment for eight people from four farming households, with over 80 farming households and more than 400 individuals working there seasonally, totaling over 400,000 yuan ($54,581) in wages. The output of its main orchard area of the base is expected to reach around 300 metric tons of oranges.
